Neat word. Love.
Several images come to mind: sweethearts strolling hand in hand, a mother’s lap, heart-shaped balloons…
But some years ago, I met some people who
redefined the term. I lost my heart to them, and wanted to follow them to the ends of the earth.
Their drums beat melodiously and their cymbals clashed joyously. They jumped high in the air, whirled each other around, raised their arms in exultation…all the while loudly singing the Holy Names of God.
The way these Hare Krsnas danced, was declared by my trusty Past Experience of the World to be, er, somewhat unusual! Yet my heart warmed to it…to the sincerity and simultaneous humility of it.
“Why do you do all this?” I asked inquisitively, impressed by the deep happiness in their faces.
”We do it for Krishna. He is the Supreme Lord. Perhaps you know of Him as Allah or the Holy Father, or even simply as God?”
“But why?” I persisted.
“We have a sweet relationship with Him. We are His and He is ours.”
I was staggered.
This was love. Profound love.
What do you think, friends?

Hare Krishna,
“Love” – such an overused word in society these days. It is only the pure souls who know the true meaning of the word, others, like myself, simply aspire for it.
Good to see your blog up and running – “I love it when a plan comes together”

hey this article is good.
a good friendship can remind you of a friendship with Krishna. In the same way, having very favorable loving relationship with your parents or with ones wife and children can remind you what it is like to love Krishna as a young child.
Thank you.

Thank you very much for commenting Presha! A devotee is reminded of Krsna wherever he goes:)
Material relationships can be so nice, but Krsna is the Supreme Lover…so a relationship with Him is the best of all! Other relationships become sweeter, when we see how everyone is dear to Krsna.

love, well the true essence of love is that it is unmotivated and uninterupted. As bhakti Tirtha Maharaj says in Spiritual warrior 2 ‘Love is not something we can turn off or on.’.When we are genuinely loving we are not concerened with ourselves at all.Love is a verb:we empathise, appreciate, share, help and give.
Unconditional love is spiritual

I have fallen overboard from my precious ship – the one that has sheltered me for all these years and taken me on so many travels. The more I try to make my way closer to the ship the further the waves carry me away. Moving back and forth I am torn between reaching the shoreline and heading back to the ship. The more I try to establish what is in my best interest the more tired I get. In the end all I can do is try to stay afloat – and try to stay alive.
In this day and age – we are all fallen bodies being tossed around in this material ocean. At that very moment that we are about to give up – Krishna shows His mercy to us and guides us home to Him…
He throws us a life jacket to carry us through this journey…
I was lost and You showed me my way back home…
thank You – for Your love and mercy…unconditional love is what I needed

Nice article…”love” is a word used far too often in modern society. As you mentioned, little do people know who or what to love. In a world filled with such false thoughts… kirtan definitely remains the safest place to be! What would we all do without Kirtan? I like your writings…sure gives me something to ponder about!
I wish this wonderful state of happiness could be experienced by everyone throughout the world. With the mrdangas, kartals and the devotees dancing in ecstasy, it sure provides a healthy environment to which nothing but fun and love can exist!
Haribol!!! All Glories to the Sankirtan Movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu!
